Physical examination and history taking for the head and neck are essential functions of medical personnel, but they can be particularly challenging. In fact, this is usually the first activity that medical personnel undertake upon coming into first contact with the patient since these regions have a concentration of nerves that could be overlooked if the client presents with a seemingly non-related issue. The challenge is in the use and interpretation of the test results when hearing loss is suspected. Firstly, Weber (lateralization) test that checks for asymmetric, normal and bilateral hearing. Health assessment topic reflection

The health assessment topic was informative with regards to identifying one facet of nurses’ function. It introduced the concept of health assessment as the first step in identifying the health care needs of a patient.
