Final
Community Project

For phase three we will look at data collection and
interpretation. More information can be found in Chapter 12.

Conduct Windshield survey of the community you reside with
emphasis on the group you have selected. A windshield survey is a systematic
observation done from a moving vehicle where a health care professional drives
around the community and researches/records his/her observations. If your group
is seniors, identify what is available for them in your community. If it is
children, are there resources in that community.

In order for Nurses to be able to knowledgeably plan
services for a community, it is essential to know a specific community, identify
health-related resources that may be helpful to members, and learn about gaps
in services. A windshield survey is conducted from a car and provides a visual
overview of a community. Conditions and trends in the community that could
affect the health of the population are noted. This data provides background
and context for working in the community or for conducting a community
assessment. It allows you to tell a story about where you live and how it
affects the community you identified.

Create a presentation about your community. You can use
PowerPoint or Microsoft work or any other vehicle to present your work.

This is meant to a fun activity that allows you to learn
about your community. Your assignment does not have to be as elaborate, so you
can keep it simple but keep your selected group in mind.

Please use APA where indicated..

Grading will be based on the following:

Information provided about the community 10%

Organization of presentation 10%

Services identified that meet the community and how they are
used 30%

Determine strengths of the community based on your
