For this section of the course project you will defend the theoretical approach/model you have chosen for your agency’s framework. In a 1-2 page paper include the following.

• Information about the success of this model with current agencies.
• Cite information from 2 credible sources that supports your model’s efficacy for the type of services your agency provides and its client population.
• Discuss why your model is better than another service approach.

Virtuous Stability

               Virtuous Stability of Ocala is the organization that I will be opening. The purpose of the organization will be to provide wellness services to community persons dealing with homelessness. The organization will be based in Florida. This program is nonprofit; therefore, funding will be a 501 (c)(3) organization. These services will include but limited to: case management, counseling, youth programs, support groups, community outreach and social activities. The organization will be staffed with a highly trained medical director, which will oversee all of the clinical applications of the organization.

            At all times there will be a clinical coordinator, which will be a licensed nurse at each of the community centers. licensed mental health counselors, licensed clinical social workers, will provide counseling services. A supervising licensed psychologist who has specialty practice in public health will be the overseer of these services stated above. Human service workers, social workers, nurses will be allowed to perform case management services with a bachelor’s degree in a stated field as required by Florida State Laws. Community outreach, and social activities will take place twice a month. These services will consist of distributing personal items, clothing, food drives, and informative pamphlets to those in need. The mission of the organization is to be a leading advocate and provider of care to the homelessness population.    

            This is based on the fact that Florida is one of the states that has the highest number of homeless people in the United States. Florida ranks 15 among states with the highest number of homeless individuals (Barth, 2020). Homelessness has detrimental effects not only to the individual but also to the society. Homelessness has more serious effects on individuals with mental illnesses. One, they are prone to being abused by those who do not understand them. This abuse can take any form, be it physical, psychological and sexual (Sheppard, 2020). Also, given the manner in which homeless people crowd particular spaces, the spread of infectious and transmissible diseases can occur very quickly leading to higher rates of infections and death (Badiaga et al., 2008).

• APA Format and Writing Quality

Familiarize yourself with the APA format and practice using it correctly. It is used for most writing assignments for your degree. Visit the Writing Center in the Student Success Center, under the Resources tab in Loud-cloud for APA paper templates, citation examples, tips, etc. Points will be deducted for poor use of APA format or absence of APA format (if required). Cite all sources of information! When in doubt, cite the source. Paraphrasing also requires a citation. I highly recommend using the APA Publication Manual, 6th edition.

• Use of Direct Quotes

I discourage over-utilization of direct quotes in DQs and assignments at the Master’s level and deduct points accordingly. As Masters’ level students, it is important that you be able to critically analyze and interpret information from journal articles and other resources. Simply restating someone else’s words does not demonstrate an understanding of the content or critical analysis of the content. It is best to paraphrase content and cite your source.

• Late Policy

The university’s policy on late assignments is a 10% penalty PER DAY LATE. This also applies to late DQ replies. Please communicate with me if you anticipate having to submit an assignment late. I am happy to be flexible, with advance notice. We may be able to work out an extension based on extenuating circumstances.
